> body of dance 2 [solo exhibition]

This body of work is Ian de Souza’s first major solo exhibition in WA for seven years. Ian has been exhibiting his work both interstate and overseas on a consistent basis but feels it’s time to bring to Perth a solid collection of works demonstrating a long evolution of his artistic endeavour.

This exhibition shows a wonderful concentration on the different aspects found within dance, from the close involvement of the emotions needed for two people when dancing creatively together, to the exotic presentation that he is expressing evolving from the Butoh dance form.

He says, “what is interesting to me is the way I am tapping into my “Eastern-ness”. It’s not so much the subject matter but the process by which I am expressing myself”.
